The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that over 43,000 die by suicide each year in the United States.  A suicide happens every 12.3 minutes which equals approximately 121 people each day.

In Pennsylvania alone, over 1800, or an average of 5 lives each day are claimed by suicide.

Most people who die by suicide had a diagnosable and treatable mental illness at the time of death.  Experts agree that clinical depression is one of the biggest risk factors for suicidal thoughts.  Approximately 80% of people or seek help for depression improve with treatment.

Suicide affects ALL ages, races, genders, sexuality, denominations, incomes and education levels.  Suicide can affect anyone.
